Club Shoot

Hope you’ve all had a great Easter.

With the clocks going forward, it can only mean one thing…….. Spring is here and so is the new outdoor shooting season!

This weekend sees the first Monthly Club shoot. This also includes you into the Monthly Knock Out. So why not come along and start your season. (Don’t forget to bring back last years trophies please!)

Are there any volunteers willing to come along and cook some bacon sandwiches? Please let me know as soon as possible.
I’m affraid if there are no volunteers = no sandwiches!

Fingers crossed for good weather.
Happy shooting everyone.
See you Sunday.

Andrea Gales

Huge congratulations to Andrea Gales one of our core members for many years and someone who has had a massive positive impact on our club and members.

Andrea has always had time for anyone at the club from our youngest to our older members.
Andrea has shot international for many years and more recently has been working part time to support the para team.

On Monday this week Andrea started a new full time job at Lilleshall as a coach with the British para archery team. We are tremendously proud of her in taking this on and are sure she will have great input to the team.

All the best and looking forward to seeing you along with the teams achievements.

Easter Sunday Fun!

After you’ve checked to see if the Easter Bunny has visited you this Sunday why not join us down at the club for a Western (8 dozen round)?
It’s a great way to get ready for our first Club Shoot of the year which takes place next weekend (Sun 8th April). This monthly National Round marks the start of our annual Knockout Competition too.

March at the Club

Snow is behind us and spring is in front of us so time to brush off your outdoor shoes and venture down to the field on a Sunday (if you’ve not already been doing so!).

What better treat for Mother’s Day than taking part in a National Round this Sunday (11th March)? 😊

Our bi-annual Clout shoot takes place the following Sunday (18th March). Archers shot 3 dozen arrows towards a small flag in one corner of the field from distances ranging from 80yds to 180 yds depending on gender, age or just by choice; a 6ft rope, marked in target scoring zone colours is used to score (usually by the youngsters). Don’t let the distances put you off, you’d be amazed how far you can get your arrows to fly when you use a tree top, rather than a target, as your sighting point!

It really is one of the best and prettiest shoots you’ll ever attend. A spring field full of flowers (coloured fletches) is a beautiful sight to behold and if you miss this one you’ll need to wait until November for another chance!

Finally, at the end of March (Sun 25th as the clocks go forward) we start the season proper with a WA1440 (a full 12 dozen arrow round which can be shortened to a 6 dozen round if you prefer).

Team Woking win 2018 King’s Cup!
