Covid19 updates

Covid19 update, 5th Jan 2020

National Lockdown  – Range Closed.

As we head into another national lockdown and ArcheryGB have issued guidance, regrettably the Club is CLOSED until further notice.

To clarify the situation both indoor and outdoor ranges must close until 15 February, when the government will review the current lockdown.

The full ArcheryGB statement can be found here:
https://www.archerygb.org/covid-19-what-am-i-allowed-to-currently-do/

As before we will change the gate code to discourage access and erect signs to remind folks not to use our shooting facilities whilst the lockdown lasts. The signupgenius will also be removed for the time being

We will publish updates and any details on when the field will be reopened when available.

Hopefully, we will see you all again soon. In the meantime stay safe and healthy.

And finally…

Thank you for your kind attention and as always if you need help with anything please ask.

Covid19 update 2, 20th Dec 2020

Surrey is in Tier 4 as of 00:01 Sunday 20th Dec, please read all of the information below.

AGB has issued new guidance that includes tier 4, please adhere to our updated covid safe rules (WAC covid19 shooting guide) in summary:

All members
– The Club remains open for individual exercise only and with severe restrictions
– All use of the club must be booked using https://bit.ly/Back2ArchBooking if no slot is available do not travel to the field
– A single archer per target boss, or; A single household/bubble per target boss
– Don’t forget to sanitise as you access the field, before and after moving bosses etc.
– The rule of six has been tightened, you must follow the government guidelines for tier 4 of “Outdoors, you can only meet one person from another household.”, so no gathering in groups and socialising… sorry.
-Indoor facilities are not to be used, so please avoid using the toilet except in an emergency.

Other considerations
– Please do as much as you can to protect yourselves and others, not as little as necessary
– Consider how any actions you take will look to outsiders and the community
– Be especially carefully on arrival/ leaving with regard to mingling and sanitation
– It’s important to recognise the positive impact on well-being of taking part in sport. Come along to enjoy your shooting and ensure others can do so safely by following the guidance
– For the Government to make a massive U-turn like this they must have some serious concerns. Let’s be positive about cutting down unnecessary contacts before Christmas and while we remain in tier 4
– Members are advised not to travel in or out of tier 3 or 4 areas, including for sport – each area, roughly the same as a county, is classed as a separate tier area.

Covid19 update 28th Nov 2020

Some great news, as you know the lockdown ends on Wed 2nd Dec and we will be re-opening the field for shooting!

SignUp Genius has already been reinstated, bookings available from Wednesday at the same link as before. We also now have a short link to get to it, so please remember to book your slots. Instruction on how to change/cancel your bookings are available at the top of the Sign up page. New signup link: https://bit.ly/Back2ArchBooking
While writing we have a few bits of information for you…

  • The Codes for the gate and loos are as they were before the lockdown.
  • The 30m target has been relocated to firmer ground in line with the first red posts, please leave it there for the time being.
  • We have been working on the loos during the lockdown and there is now a new floor throughout, and a new porch and door for  the Gents.
  • Please remember to adhere to our covid safe rules (WAC covid19 shooting guide). Sanitiser and wipes are available in the loos and you should keep your own target face and pins in your car (replacements are still available in the usual place).

Stay Safe & Well.

Covid19 update 4th Nov 2020

As you may already know the government have committed us to an English lockdown and AGB have been unable to get an exemption for Archery.
You can read the AGB statement at: https://www.archerygb.org/covid-19-update-closure-of-clubs-in-england/

Therefore our range must close with immediate effect. As before we will change the gate code to discourage access and erect signs to remind folks not to use our shooting facilities whilst the lockdown lasts. The signupgenius will also be removed for the time being

We will publish updates and any details on when the field will be reopened when available.

Hopefully we will see you all again early next month. In the meantime stay safe and healthy.

Your Committee.

Covid19 Update 18 May

Dear Members,
We are pleased to say that from Saturday 16th May Woking Archery Club’s field is once again open for shooting!
We do have to ask you to abide by a few extra rules in order to limit social contact and to follow Archery GB’s recommended guidelines for return to Archery. The WAC guide to shooting during this period can be found here, please ensure you read it carefully and understand what we are asking you to do.

Numbers at the field are restricted, to 10 taregts, so you will need to book a target each time you intend to shoot. The link for booking follows and is also in the WAC Guide. Signupgenius Target Booking

RHS Wisley have now removed the physical barriers that were stopping us from driving to our field, so we can now access our field by car and so the target limit is now 10 targets, the gate combination is back to the pre lockdown code.

If you wish to score a round scoresheets can be downloaded and printed here or use your apps, please do not leave these to be collected and send a photo to records@wokingarchery.club is you want them to be recorded.

The first few days have gone smoothly, thanks to everyone for being careful to follow the guides helping everyone to stay safe and ensure we can remain open.

Please keep an eye out for updates on this page.
Stay Safe and Good Shooting!

Covid19 Update 15 May

Dear Members,
As of receipt of this email WAC’s field is once again open for shooting!
We do have to ask you to abide by a few extra rules in order to limit social contact and to follow Archery GB’s recommended guidelines for return to Archery. The WAC guide to shooting during this period can be found here, please ensure you read it carefully and understand what we are asking you to do.

Numbers at the field are restricted, so you will need to book a target each time you intend to shoot. The link for booking follows and is also in the attachment. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080A4CA8A62EA4FC1-target

The ongoing complication is that Travellers are in the area and the RHS have blocked all vehicle access to car park 4 & 5 from Wisley Lane. We therefore need to be mindful of Deers Farm Close residents when parking, and this is the main reason for starting with a restriction of 5 targets at a time. Please park against the Research Centre fence and walk to the field via our normal access route (the gate combination is also back to the pre lock down code). Please also make sure you display a club sticker in your car or put a note on the dashboard.
Stay Safe and Good Shooting!

Covid19 Update 11th May

Please see the latest update from AGB regarding returning to archery here, the committee are doing our best to keep up to date with the guidance as it is released. At this stage in line with AGB guidance advising that all archery in the UK is postponed and our range remains closed.
Thanks for bearing with us while we understand ongoing guidance.

Covid19 Update 25th Mar

After the Prime Ministers announcement and after discussion. We have made the decision that, whilst archery appears to be a suitable sole pursuit, providing the use of facilities by multiple people is inappropriate.

For this reason the range is currently closed to shooting.

We have not taken this decision lightly and with a heavy heart. We will keep this under review over the coming weeks. Stay safe all.
