Woking AC Hat-trick
It was a clean sweep for three Woking AC juniors when AGB announced the results of their 2015 November Challenge last week: 1st place Boys Recurve U14 for James Woodgate, 1st place Girls Recurve U14 for Louisa Piper and 1st place Girls U18 Recurve for Eleanor Piper.
Well done guys, impressive shooting!
Eleanor’s second GB call-up!
Congratulations to Eleanor who has just been selected to represent GB at the European Youth Cup in Hungary in early May. Go Eleanor!
Woking local tournament success
Woking AC’s Eleanor Piper, Roy Watts and James Woodgate took team honours at last Sunday’s Guildford AC Fita 25 down at the Spectrum. Always one of the friendliest tournaments around, last Sunday was no exception and genuine thanks go to all our friends at GAC for putting on another great event!
To cap it off, Eleanor Piper won the Senior Ladies division, James Woodgate the U18 Junior Gents division and Louisa Piper the U18 Junior Ladies division (and a bottle of wine in the raffle!); all of them are also putting in Surrey County Record claims as a result. Roy Watts was fourth in the Senior Gents with Andy Hopkins 19th out of a massive field of 57 recurve archers, Angus Wilson also came a credible 6th in the Gents Barebow.
2015 Classification awards
Congratulations to everyone that has improved their classification in the last season, today held the annual Frostbite / soup and classification awards shoot. Some photos of those there today below.
Well done to those that improved their classifications:

Not only did we have Archers shooting we had Steve Vallis judging for the weekend. As if this wasn’t enough both Mark Preston and Candy Schofield were there from early Friday with a number of other volunteers getting things prepared and until long after the Archery had finished on Sunday clearing the venue. So thank you to all the volunteers for all the hard work that makes our shoots possible.
Sister Power!
UK No 1 Junior Girls’ Recurve!
Congratulations to Eleanor Piper who has just been announced by Archery GB as the UK’s No 1 Girl Recurve. She joins Andrea Gales who was announced as the UK’s No 1 Ladies Compound last month – there is obviously something in the air (or mud) down at Woking AC?!
Louisa (aged 12) moved up from 27th U18 last year to 8th this year so she certainly deserves a special mention too!
Well done Abi!
Congratulations to Abi Embury on entering her first National competition, she’s come a very close 2nd in the AGB Summer Metrics U10 Girl Compound section!
Four WAC juniors entered this year and along with Abi’s award they also claimed 1st places in the U18 Girl Recurve (Eleanor), the U14 Boy Longbow (James) and the U14 Girl Recurve (Louisa). Demonstrating that he has many strings to his bow James also posted a 3rd place in the U14 Boy Recurve which, with 40 entrants, was the largest class of the tournament.
Juniors – please don’t forget that this month is the AGB November Postal, so why not shoot a 3 dozen Portsmouth (60cm face at 20yds), have it scored and signed by an adult and then send it in to Phil Embury no later than Friday 4th December!
