Results are out and this year there were a massive 1777 individual Portsmouth round entries from 120 clubs over 35 pages of results. A special mention must go to Eleanor Piper (then age 15) who, although competing on a level footing in a senior competition, topped the Ladies Recurve group with a score of 580 (out of a maximum 600 points)!

This is a national competition where clubs are drawn against each other (initially by county / region to make travel easier) to take part in a match consisting of a series of H2Hs; firstly as a team, then by bow discipline and finally on an individual basis. WAC was drawn against Guildford AC in Round One and on Tues 14th April a WAC team, comprising Roy Watts, Eleanor Piper, Jane Lawrence-Tuck and Matt Tuck, duly set off for Guildford.
Having navigated the initial hurdle of arriving on time through accidents on both the M25 and A3 we were rewarded with an excellent evening’s shooting with, and hospitality from, a GAC team which narrowly beat us by just one point. With congratulations all round, and after such an enjoyable experience, we have invited them back for a rematch in late summer – just for fun!

Congratulation to those hardy WAC archers who braved the cold winter weather to put in scores shot at either a Frostbite (Recurve & Compound) or Warwick (Longbow) from Dec through to Mar.
WAC took part in 8 Divisions across 4 categories and the top placed teams included a 1st in Division 6 Recurve, 2nd in Division 5 Recurve and a 3rd in the Junior Longbow Division. There are too many archers to mention individually so here are those archers that submitted scores for our top place Division 6 Recurve Team: Rod Hardy, Alex Davies, Manon Bristow, Gerry Lupton, Wendy Meadows, Don Croome, Ken Austin, Alan Kimber, Elaine Fagg and Olgo Sokolovskaya. Congratulations to everyone who took part and thanks to Louise for keeping track and submitting all these entries!
In our first attempt entering his competition Louise Davies is pleased to announce that WAC came 2nd in Division 4!
Each month, from Oct to Mar, any WAC Junior submitting a Portsmouth scores was eligible for inclusion and the top three scores each month were submitted as the WAC team submission. Congratulations to Jack Gorman, Alex Davies, James Woodgate, Eleanor Piper and Louisa Piper for this excellent first result.

Last week, in the English springtime gales, one of our bosses was found windswept and in a tree at the side of the field!
This is a timely reminder to ensure that they are tethered down as you leave the field – next time it may even try and make the M25?!
