Three of WAC’s juniors travelled up to the Ricoh Stadium at the start of the month to take part in AGB’s JNIC.
Eleanor, who was representing England, was placed 3rd U16 Jnr Lady, narrowly missing gold by just 2 points.
Louisa won the U12 Championship with a score of 559; this was only 5 points off the Jnr Lady Championship score and placed her 5th U18.
James Woodgate shot 545 and was placed 5th U16 Junior Gent – only 8 points off the top spot in his group too.
Congratulations to all of them; shooting in an arena on the scale of the JNIC is no mean feat and they did us proud!

Louisa and Eleanor Piper were both selected to shoot for the Senior Surrey Archery Team at their friendly against Kent, Middlesex and Essex in Sittingbourne on Saturday.

The AGB Summer Metrics are out and thanks must first go to Louise Davies (Records Officer) for ensuring that nine WAC juniors’ entries were represented in the lists:

1st place: Louisa Piper (U12 Girl Recurve) and Alex Davies (U12 Girl Longbow)

2nd place: James Woodgate (U14 Boy Longbow), Dan Embury (U12 Boy Compound), Eleanor Piper (U16 Girl Recurve)

In addition Alex Davies was also 4th U12 Girl Recurve, Sam Davies (in what I think was his first national competition, so a special well done to him!) was 8th U10 Boy Recurve and out of whopping entry of 47 U14 Boy Recurve archers, James Woodgate was 9th and, out of an even bigger field of 53 U16 Boy Recurve archers, Andrew Searle was 22nd!

Congratulations on behalf of the whole club to every one of them on their brilliant results!

Well done to everybody from Woking that took part in the Surrey Indoor Target Championships, from those who shot for the first time at an open event to those winning their events.

Adrian James won the Gents handicap (21-41) an superb performance with a Personal best no mean feet at your 1st indoor compound competition

Jack Gorman 3rd place in the Junior Surrey Recurve, a great result while taking part in his 1st Indoor Open Competition

Last but by no means least County Compound pair was won by Chris Mott and Adrian James (joint win with Nonsuch, with equal score, 10’s, 9’s and no 8’s between them all).

What a performance – what a club!

A promising day, with no rain, greeted us on Sunday. Unfortunately, with the ground being rather water logged, we had to restrict the distances. The younger Juniors shot from 80yds. Older Juniors shot from 120 yds. Ladies from 140 yds & Gents at 180 yds.

The rain held off all day. The ground was very squelchy but we all had a great day. All the 26 members that attended, scored! What a result! Well done everyone. Thanks very much also to Harvey for being field captain & scorer.
