Fancy being “Field Crew” at a World Record Status Shoot?
Here’s your opportunity! Surrey Archery Weekend organisers Candy and Mark are looking for helpers to don the elite royal blue SAW field crew T-shirt and help with scoring, watering the judges (not literally!) and general go-for-ing duties. This is a really excellent opportunity to find out what is involved in the behind-the-scenes running one of the biggest shoots in the country and it’s all just down the road in Surbiton on the weekend of 12th and 13thJuly.
If you are interested then please see either Mark or Candy (or any Committee member) down at the field.

The Big Clear Up
On behalf of the whole club I’d like you all to join me in a HUGE THANK YOU to the following club members who donned rubber gloves en masse to clean the kitchen, equipment sheds and loos from top-to-bottom last Wednesday.
Thank you to Harvey, Louise & Alex, Candy, Helen, Ed and Alex Ruffle, Sam Morley, Sue, Chis and James Woodgate, Mark Preston, Andy & Sammie and Chris Bayly!
Now it’s up to the rest us to keep Woking AC looking shiny! Please make sure you continue to pop all rubbish into the right bins and, if you are able to take the odd full bin liner home to pop into your street bin, that would be very helpful.
Are you near Chessington on Saturday 7th June
Dear Woking Archers,
If you are in the vicinity of Chessington on Saturday 7th June please come and give our club’s Junior archers some support. We have two Woking Teams – 10 archers – shooting in the first Chessington Junior Team competition.
The competition runs from 0930 until 1630 at Kingston Rugby Club, Rear of King Edwards Recreation Ground, Hook Road, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 1PL – map and detailed directions can be found here.
We will have the BBQ on all day so pop in for a cuppa or bring something to cook on the BBQ and encourage our Juniors to produce some high scores. If you plan to stay bring a chair as well.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during the day.
Regards
Louise
Field Closures
Just a reminder that our pond – sorry archery field will be closed for compost turning this coming week (3,4,5 June) and then the following (10,11,12 June). This is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 to 16:30. Shooting in the evenings is as usual.
Club Membership Renewals
Please see below a message from the Club Secretary Sue Woodgate:
Apologies to those of you that have already paid, but we still have a large number of people from whom I have had no response. We are nearly into June and we would be most grateful if those who are re-joining would pay their annual membership fees, and those that aren’t would let us know by return email.. Please feel free to email or call me if there are any issues re payment that you wish to discuss.
Tremendous start to the outdoor season for Woking AC
Woking AC has got off to a tremendous start to the outdoor season – please see our FB page or the Tournament Blogs Page for individual accounts by our various roving reporters! Keep the reports coming in to our communications officer
Special mention goes to Louisa Piper who, in her first two competitions this season has claimed THREE NATIONAL RECORDS and joint honours for a fourth.
At the NCAS Caswell shoot on 4th May she took the 15m national distance record for the Metric V then, last week at the Evesham Junior Open Metrics, she increased her 15m record and added the 20m national distance record for good measure. Overall at Evesham she shot 1333 to match the National Record for the Metric V round and received the trophy for Overall Junior Girl.
Interested in going to an external shoot in 2014
Your Competition and Tournament Secretary, Helen Ruffle, has kindly prepared a summary of external shoots at which you are likely to find other friendly faces from Woking Archery Club.
